New Details on the Fire Erupted on Isakova Avenue

Mariam Z.

The fire that broke out in a furniture showroom on Isakova Avenue spread over an area of 450 square meters, with the second floor almost completely burned down. This was reported to NEWS.am by the brother of the showroom's owner.

He stated that he does not know how much property has been destroyed, but confirmed that there are no casualties among the staff. According to him, a showroom employee saw smoke and alerted the emergency services.

Currently, intact furniture is being removed from the showroom, while the area is being cleared of broken glass. The undamaged furniture is being transported to a storage area by trucks.

Staff members believe that the fire was caused by a short circuit. Eyewitnesses report that the premises had been rented for about a year.

Earlier, it was reported that four firefighting teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Rescue Service of Yerevan were dispatched to the scene in response to the complexity of the fire being classified as “1 BIS.” Also responding to the situation were the duty officer from the Firefighting and Rescue Operations Organization Department, the duty officer from the Medical Support Department, and operational groups from the National Center for Crisis Management.

The fire complexity was later upgraded to level “2,” leading to the dispatch of two additional firefighting teams. The fire was contained at 1:15 PM and completely extinguished by 1:35 PM.
