Pashinyan Reveals New Details on Negotiation Process with Baku
Armenia has received the 12th revision of the peace treaty document from Azerbaijan, but 2 out of the 17 points remain unresolved. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a conversation with reporters in parliament.
“We are currently analyzing to present our responses. The two unresolved points of the document continue to remain unresolved. There are numerous layers, nuances, and of course, the provisions are not infinite, and to say 'it has been rejected or it hasn't' is a bit relative,” said Pashinyan.
When asked whether it was possible to agree on the withdrawal of EU observers from delineated areas with Azerbaijan, Pashinyan reiterated that the unresolved points continue to be unresolved.
Regarding the unblocking of transport routes, the Prime Minister noted that they have not yet received an official response from Baku, although the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has indicated that it is of no practical significance.
“We have not received an official response to our official inquiry. Other opinions have been expressed in the Azerbaijani expert and political circles, that the proposal made by Armenia is good and should be accepted,” he said.
Pashinyan emphasized that if Armenia has received the 12th revision of the document, it already indicates that the process is not at an impasse.
Addressing rail transfers, he noted that Armenia is ready to engage in additional clarification of the railway operation regime with Azerbaijan on a reciprocal basis. He highlighted that Armenia is ready to open the route from 'continental' Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan under the same principles as the road passing through Iran.
“I often analyze and think about why Azerbaijan would give a negative response, and objective analysis shows that there is no basis for rejection,” said Pashinyan.
