«Chagh Rustam» Released: He Was Detained in the Case of the Murder of ‘Faz’
In the case concerning the murder of Sergey Grigoryan, known by the nickname ‘Faz’, Rustam Stepanyan, widely recognized as ‘Chagh Rustam’, has been released from custody. This was reported by Stepanyan’s attorney, Gegham Hakobyan.
“The Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of the First Instance of Yerevan, under the presidency of M. Melkonyan, granted our motion and released our defendant, who was unjustly accused of organizing the murder, applying an alternative measure of restraint,” the lawyer wrote.
Stepanyan was released directly from the courtroom.
Recall that the incident took place on June 11, late in the evening, in the Ajapnyak administrative district, with deadly shots fired near residential buildings. Footage had also been published showing the alleged killer of Sergey Grigoryan, known by the nickname ‘Faz’, leaving the crime scene.
A criminal case was initiated based on Article 155, Part 2, Point 7, Article 44-155, Part 2, Point 7, and Article 335, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
About a month after Sergey Grigoryan's murder, Rustam Stepanyan, ‘Chagh Rustam’, and A. Kyureghyan were arrested and subsequently detained on charges of organizing the murder.
