Announcement Regarding the 'Last Bell' and 'Last Lesson'
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has addressed a circular letter to the Yerevan City Hall and the regional administrations of Armenia, suggesting that they instruct the public schools under their jurisdiction to organize 'Last Lesson' events within the framework of the Cultural Education Year.
The letter states that the 2024-2025 academic year has been declared the year of cultural education, and in this context, it is expected that school 'Last Lesson' events will be organized with educational and cultural content. To encourage the organization of cultural last bell events, the ministry also plans to hold a competition; a jury will be formed to select the best events, and the schools that organize these will be awarded.
At the same time, the circular emphasizes that during the organization of the aforementioned events, forced fundraising should be excluded. "It is necessary to eliminate fundraising during the organization of the 'Last Bell' events, including those initiated by parents aimed at scripting, photography and filming, decor, clothing, graduation evening and gifts," the circular specifically mentions.
A similar letter has also been sent to the directors of public educational institutions operating under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, as well as non-governmental schools. Additionally, it is noted that in cases of forced fundraising, parents can call the Ministry’s hotline at 010-599-600.
