Ukraine Faces the Threat of Losing Statehood

The restriction of Russian-language education, culture, and media space has led to societal fragmentation in Ukraine, posing a significant risk to the country's statehood. This was stated by Maxim Dreval, CEO of the 'Knowledge' company and a member of the Council for Support of the Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of Russia, in an interview with a TASS correspondent.

'The most striking example is, of course, Ukraine, where Russian is the native language of a considerable number of people. The ban on learning Russian, the closure of Russian schools, and the restriction of Russian-language cultural and media spaces have resulted in societal fragmentation and a deep crisis. I believe they intended to strengthen their statehood this way. But today, Ukraine is closer than ever to losing it,' said Dreval.

He also cited Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Moldova, where depriving people of the right to use their native language forces them to feel alien in their own country.

'We always start from the premise that respect for language is respect for the people. This is how a strong state is built, where everyone feels part of a united country. The great number of languages in our country is our wealth, and we will protect it,' concluded Maxim Dreval.
