Rescue workers and police are conducting enhanced operations to free vehicles and assist stranded citizens. This was announced by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.
“Due to heavy snowfall, from February 20 to 21, the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received numerous reports of vehicles stranded on roadways in various regions of the republic. During this period, there were 97 recorded incidents of vehicles being blocked or caught in traffic jams. In total, rescuers have freed 359 vehicles and provided assistance to 877 citizens.
The highest number of blockages were registered particularly in the regions of Aragatsotn, Kotayk, and Lori, as well as in Yerevan. Rescuers, in cooperation with the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, continue to carry out operations around the clock, freeing vehicles and assisting stranded citizens.
At the same time, patrols are periodically conducted on several interstate highways in the republic, with duty assignments established to provide assistance to drivers when needed and ensure the safety of citizens.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again urges everyone to drive exclusively on winter tires and to be particularly vigilant in strictly adhering to traffic regulations,” it is stated in the report.
