Heavy Snow, Blizzard, Closed Roads
As of February 20th, at 20:00, snow is falling in the regions of Abovyan, Hrazdan, Sevan, Gavarr, Vardenis, Martuni, Dilijan, Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Chambarak, Berd, Ashtarak, Aparan, Aragats, Spitak, Vanadzor, Stepanavan, Tumanian, Tashir, Talin, Ani, Artik, Amasia, Ashotzk, Masis, Artashat, Ararat, Yeghvard (Vardenyats Mountain Pass), Vayk, Jermuk, Sisian, Goris, Kapan, Meghri, Ejmiatsin, and Armavir.
The roads from the Jermuk intersection to Kapan, the Vanadzor-Dilijan section, and the Dilijan serpentine are closed to heavy and trailer vehicles. The Vardenyats Mountain Pass is closed to vehicles with trailers, while other vehicles find it difficult to pass. Due to intense blizzard and low visibility (5-10 meters), sections from Lanjik to Akhuryan, from Alagyaz to Tsiltkar, from Alagyaz to Geghadir, and the roads in the Artik region are impassable for all types of vehicles. The serpentine roads of Spitak are impassable for vehicles with trailers. Road conditions in Martuni are also difficult for all types of vehicles due to low visibility.
There is a blizzard on the roads of Ashotzk, Amasia, and Talin regions, as well as on the sections of Horum-Artik-Mets Mantash and Kuchak-Mirak, in the Saravani and Spitak mountain passes, and in the Sisian region known as “Zanger.” On roads in Talin, Ani, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Aparan, and Noyemberyan regions, there are patches of black ice. Fog can be observed in the Goris region and in the Tigranashen serpentine, with visibility down to 50-100 meters. Other interstate and republican highways remain open. Road workers are currently engaged in cleaning and treating the roads with salt and sand.
