There Can Be No Talk of Territorial Concessions: Lavrov
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, has stated that there can be no talk of territorial concessions for Ukraine during the resolution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. According to him, during the formation of the USSR, the leadership of the Soviet Union made such concessions.
“Do you want to hear some reflections during the negotiation process regarding the possibility of conceding certain territories? How to concede: with Russian residents or without people, with only rare land metals?” Lavrov told reporters.
He emphasized that representatives of the United States, who are currently discussing how to approach the Ukrainian crisis, are also speaking about compromises, although it is still unclear who is authorized by President Trump to speak on behalf of the Washington administration regarding this issue. “They really start to mention the topic of territorial concessions. One should read history,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
