Is it Possible to Obtain Quality Higher Education in Armenia? Andreasian Responds

We have numerous challenges in the field of higher education, which is why we have set a goal in the state program for educational development to increase competitiveness and aim for up to four universities to be among the 500 best universities worldwide. This was stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Zhanna Andreasian, in a conversation with journalists, responding to the question of whether it is possible to obtain quality higher education in Armenia.

“We are actively working in this direction; we are already seeing significant progress in various universities. If you take a look, for instance, at how the number of scientific publications has grown in our different universities, we have institutions that provide substantial progress. Some universities are implementing their internal accreditation systems to be able to assemble a more qualified and competitive teaching staff,” she said.

When asked if she considered this in light of organizing her child's education abroad, the minister replied, “I believe I have already answered this question, and I have nothing more to add because I consider this question exhausted.”

Andreasian also addressed the public's recent dissatisfaction regarding history textbooks, which changed certain historical facts. “We are not altering historical facts at all. History is what has happened, and we must teach our children to analyze and look at historical events from different perspectives, to have historical thinking. This is our important task. History is the same as it has always been,” she emphasized.
