Citizens of Armenia and UAE to Use National Driver's Licenses in Each Other's Territory
The Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates will mutually recognize each other's driver's licenses. The proposal for signing a memorandum of understanding regarding the mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses issued by the ministries of internal affairs of Armenia and UAE was approved at the Cabinet meeting on February 13.
This memorandum is expected to create opportunities for citizens of both countries to freely use their national driver's licenses within each other's territory, further facilitating the freedom of movement for citizens of both nations.
The decision states: “Each party recognizes the valid driver's license issued to the citizens of the other party arriving for non-residential purposes, provided that the license holder meets the minimum age requirements set by the other side of the memorandum.”
For example, if an Armenian citizen arrives in the UAE with the intention of residence, the person applying for the exchange of the driver's license will be exempt from the related theoretical and practical exams in the Emirates.
