Azerbaijan Files Lawsuit Against Armenia
Azerbaijan has filed a lawsuit against Armenia at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. They demand compensation for the alleged "destruction" of the environment and unique nature in Artsakh. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
According to the statement, the lawsuit was submitted on February 12, in accordance with the 1979 Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats.
"Armenia’s actions have caused irreparable damage to the region's wildlife and species. Azerbaijan demands full compensation for the massive destruction of habitats and wildlife, particularly for actions that have negatively affected hundreds of species and habitats. This also includes large-scale deforestation, ecologically ineffective logging, mining activities, and the construction of hydroelectric power plants," the statement said.
