Casualties and Injured in Stepanavan Fire
On February 8, at 04:42, the crisis management center of the Lori regional rescue service received a report of a fire in one of the buildings in the Ashotaberd neighborhood of Stepanavan. Two combat units from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional fire and rescue brigade were dispatched to the scene.
It was revealed that the fire broke out on the 2nd floor and roof of a wooden building, covering an area of approximately 450 square meters. A "Level 2" complexity fire was declared, and an operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations along with two more combat units were sent to the location. Subsequently, four additional combat units were dispatched to assist as water carriers.
The rescuers evacuated 27 residents from the building. The fire was contained by 11:22 AM and extinguished by 8:00 PM. Rescuers discovered the body of one citizen, and six others were transported to a medical center. A total of eight combat units and 40 firefighters, as well as specialized equipment from the Stepanavan municipal administration, were involved in the firefighting efforts.
