This is an affront: Los Angeles firefighters receive offer to resign

U.S. authorities have urged firefighters combating forest fires in Los Angeles to submit resignation letters. This was reported by the Washington Post.

The majority of federal employees have received offers for paid departures from their jobs. If they do not voluntarily submit their resignations, extensive staff optimization efforts will be implemented.

“The offer has raised confusion and alarm among all types of civil servants, but it has particularly deeply affected firefighters,” the publication states.

Many of them have only recently begun to recover from efforts to combat devastating fires in California.

A representative of the National Federation of Federal Employees told the publication that such letters have undermined the functioning of work teams. Firefighters themselves have described the authorities' offer as a delivered slap in the face.
