International Recognition and Condemnation of the Armenian Genocide Should Not Be a Priority of Armenia's Foreign Policy, Says Arsen Torosyan

The international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide should not be a priority of Armenia's foreign policy, said ruling party MP Arsen Torosyan during an interview on Channel 1.

“The recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the entire world is a fundamentally human issue that each country faces and acknowledges. This is a matter for different nations; the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide should not be a priority of Armenia's foreign policy. It has been, and we are now reaping the consequences of that,” stated Torosyan.

“How long can we live with these false hopes, unrealistic desires, that one day Turkey will recognize the Armenian Genocide or will make reparations? If this is what we are living for in Armenia, excuse me, but I do not agree. The Republic of Armenia is here to ensure the well-being, prosperity, security, and all other attributes of its citizens, and nothing more. If we set other goals for the Republic of Armenia, we put these important attributes into question,” Torosyan concluded.
