Alen Simonian Faces Serious Reality: 'Hayots Ashkharh'

According to the newspaper 'Hayots Ashkharh', 'The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, is facing a serious reality due to his anti-Russian statements. He does not know how to justify himself in front of his Northern counterparts to convince them that he has not made such anti-Russian statements. Sources from the National Assembly have reported that Russia has demanded that the President of the National Assembly either deny and sue the media or admit that he made those comments. Simonian has decided to backtrack on his remarks.

Earlier, the newspaper reported that on January 24, during a closed meeting with the parliamentarians from the Baltic countries, Alen Simonian expressed strong criticism towards the Russian Federation, which raised eyebrows even among the representatives of the Baltic countries. During the closed meeting with the Baltic representatives, Simonian stated that Russia should lose and disappear for the benefit of both Armenia and the Baltic countries. He also added that the collapse of Russia could open 'good prospects' for Armenia and the Baltic states.

The newspaper has uncovered new details regarding this incident. The closed meeting between Alen Simonian and the Baltic parliamentary representatives was held in a strongly anti-Russian atmosphere, as evidenced by official statements released by those countries. After the meeting, the Saeima (National Assembly) of Latvia issued the following release: 'Countries striving to free themselves from Russia's sphere of influence will inevitably face its resistance and provocations. This must be accepted with quiet determination and resolved by clearly focusing on the established goals,' emphasized Daiga Mierina, spokesperson for the Saeima, on Friday, January 24, during a meeting with members of the Armenian Parliament's foreign relations and European integration committees.

The same release was also distributed by the Riigikogu (National Assembly) of Estonia, stating: 'We fully support Armenia on its path to EU membership. It is a long and complex process, but we are ready to share our experience… I deeply believe that Armenia belongs to Europe,' said Lauri Hussar, President of the Riigikogu, emphasizing the necessity of supporting Ukraine, since if Ukraine does not win the war initiated by Russia, the future of many other countries will be at risk.

The media outlet has no intention of issuing a denial or removing the publication and has demanded to receive the full undedited footage of the meeting.
