Jordan Firmly Rejects Forced Relocation of Palestinians

Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced on Sunday that his country firmly rejects any forced relocation of Palestinians, following U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion to send Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan, according to Al Arabiya.

"Our rejection of the relocation of Palestinians is firm and will not change. Jordan is for Jordanians, and Palestine is for Palestinians," Safadi's statement read.

Earlier, Trump stated that Jordan and Egypt should accept more Palestinians from the war-torn Gaza Strip. The Palestinian militant group Hamas, which governs the enclave, rejected the proposal.

Last year, Washington declared its opposition to the forced relocation of Palestinians. Human rights organizations and humanitarian agencies have raised concerns for months about the situation in Gaza, as the war has led to the displacement of nearly the entire population and mass starvation.
