Panama Canal Will Remain Panamanian, President's Response to Trump

The Panama Canal will remain Panamanian, stated the country's President José Mulino on social media in response to Trump's promises.

"There is no country in the world that hinders our government. The canal was not given up by anyone. It was the result of generations of struggle, which peaked in 1999 with the Torrijos-Carter Treaty, and since then we have been managing and responsibly expanding it day by day, serving the world and trade," added José Mulino.

It is noteworthy that during his inauguration speech, Trump announced that the United States should reclaim the Panama Canal.
