Iran Will Respond Decisively to US Attack, Iranian Foreign Ministry Says

Iran will act decisively to defend its interests and territorial integrity if the United States strikes its nuclear program facilities. This statement was made by the official spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, during a weekly press conference.

In early January, the Axios portal reported, citing three informed sources, that former US President Joe Biden discussed plans to strike Iranian nuclear facilities with his team, including White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. As a result, Biden has not made a final decision on the matter.

The discussion was not prompted by new intelligence but was aimed at developing possible scenarios, the sources noted. “Iran will act decisively to protect its interests and territorial integrity. Such incidents are always destructive and do not serve the interests of either party. From the standpoint of international law and our perspective, we strongly condemn this. Iran will act with utmost determination to protect its interests in any situation,” Baghaei’s remarks were conveyed by the Tasnim agency.
