TikTok Resumes Operations in the US Following Trump's Announcements

The Chinese social media platform TikTok has announced that it is resuming its services for users in the United States. The decision comes at a time when newly elected President Donald Trump stated that he would issue an executive order to suspend the ban following his inauguration. This is reported by Kommersant.ru.

“TikTok is in the process of resuming operations. We appreciate President Trump for providing the necessary clarity for our service providers and reassuring them that they will not face penalties for making TikTok available to more than 170 million Americans, as well as for allowing more than 7 million small businesses to continue their activities,” said the company in a statement published on the X social network.

The company characterized Trump’s stance as a “step against arbitrary censorship.” TikTok has stated that it will continue to work with the newly elected president’s administration towards a solution that will enable the social network to maintain its operations in the United States.

On January 19, TikTok announced that it would cease its operations in the US due to a law banning the social network that Joe Biden signed in April 2024.
