EU Membership Delays: Concerns Within the Ruling Team
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that threats from Russia following the approval of the EU membership project have caused concern for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Recently, he organized a discussion in Ijevan with officials from both the executive and legislative branches, suggesting solutions for the heavy economic blow anticipated for Armenia. He stated that they cannot backtrack and refuse to accept the EU project.
However, it has come to light that the agenda for the first session of the National Assembly's spring session, starting on Monday, does not include the EU membership project, despite it being in Parliament since the end of last year. Notably, there is a significant number of MPs within the ruling faction who oppose this project, considering it a "dangerous gamble with potentially severe consequences." Furthermore, the text of the project has become a topic of entertainment within the ruling party, with reports that members are shocked by the level of ignorance and simplicity exhibited by those eager to rush towards Europe.
