The radar is installed in the mountainous region of Gilan province to monitor the country’s northern airspace. It has been integrated into Iran's air defense network.
It is noted that after the radar's installation in Gilan, significant portions of airspace over Armenia, Azerbaijan, eastern Turkey, much of Georgia, western Turkmenistan, the southwestern part of Kazakhstan, and the Caspian Sea will come under Iran's air defense control.
