Swiss Bank Accused of Hiding Ties to Nazis

A Swiss bank is accused of concealing its close ties to Nazis, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

It has been noted that the bank's management failed to disclose certain information regarding Nazi bank accounts and partially obstructed the investigation.

The investigation was led by independent ombudsman Neil Barofsky. Credit Suisse removed the man from his position; however, after some time, he was reinstated and continued his work, during which Barofsky discovered documents relating to “dozens of individuals and legal entities connected to Nazi atrocities.”

It is highlighted that the main conclusions of prior investigations by independent commissions in the late 20th century were that the Swiss bank deliberately ignored the theft of Jewish assets by Nazis during the war and hindered attempts by relatives to reclaim those funds afterward.
