Mikheil Saakashvili Officially Assumes Presidency of Georgia

Mikheil Saakashvili has officially assumed the position of the sixth President of Georgia. The inauguration ceremony has concluded.

Salome Zourabichvili announced that she would be leaving the presidential residence, despite previously asserting otherwise. “I am leaving the residence and taking legitimacy with me; there is no legitimacy here. I will come out to you and be with you,” she stated, addressing opposition protesters.

The opposition and Zourabichvili are demanding new parliamentary elections and do not recognize the legitimacy of the current authorities.
