VIDEO: Azerbaijani Passenger Plane Crashes, Details

A passenger plane has crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan, according to Tengrinews. The aircraft went down in the vicinity of Aktau Airport.

Preliminary reports indicate that the plane belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines and was en route from Baku to Grozny. At the time of the crash, there were 67 passengers and five crew members onboard.

Initial information suggests that the aircraft disappeared from radar and landed in a field near the runway. Prior to the accident, the plane was reportedly circling over the airport.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has confirmed reports of the plane crash near Aktau. Early indications suggest that there are survivors from the aviation accident.

Due to fog in Grozny, the plane was rerouted from Baku to Makhachkala and then to Aktau. Reports indicate that the injured are in extremely critical condition.
