Change in the Unified Transport System
Today, the spokesperson for the Yerevan Mayor’s Office, Hayk Kostanyan, made a post on his Facebook page regarding the new ticketing system.
“Dear Yerevan residents, esteemed colleagues, as you know, starting January 1, we will fully transition to a unified ticketing system for public transport. We would like to inform you that a new project will be proposed at the Yerevan City Council’s regular session on December 24, which will maintain the 100 dram fare for a single ride until February 1, 2025, alongside the new packages. This will be available exclusively through electronic means, via Tellcell Wallet, paper QR tickets bought at payment terminals, and bank cards.
For trolleybuses, the 50 dram fare will continue to be in effect until February 1, 2025. For the metro, the 100 dram fare will also remain active until the same date. At the same time, we would like to note that coin-accepting machines will be sealed starting January 1, which means that the option to pay with a 100 dram coin will end, and the transition to a fully electronic payment system will take place.
This decision is aimed at making the transitional period to the unified ticketing system as easy as possible for citizens.
Many of you are asking when and how we will be able to utilize this system. From January, it will also be possible to purchase transport cards, which will allow you to charge your preferred ticket packages. A new website will be launched, providing a quick and easy way to purchase online ticket packages in your preferred manner. The site will also have the option to buy packages designated for privileged groups, as well as information on groups eligible for free travel rights.
We will also add that the public will soon be informed about all this through informational and social media videos,” wrote Hayk Kostanyan.
