Protesters Block Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi

Protesters in Tbilisi, who are demonstrating against the Georgian government's decision to suspend talks with the EU, gathered once again on Monday near the country's parliament and blocked the adjacent Rustaveli Avenue, reports a correspondent from РИА Новости.

This marks the nineteenth such protest action in Georgia's capital. On Monday, the protest was joined by writers, editors, publishers, book designers, booksellers, and publishing staff. Throughout the day, several protests took place in different parts of the capital.

The latest wave of opposition protests in Georgia began on November 28, after Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the decision to suspend discussions on the country's EU membership until 2028.

Protesters used firecrackers, stones, and bottles, with reports indicating that Molotov cocktails were discovered at the scene of the riots. Security forces responded by employing special equipment, including water cannons.
