Unknown Drones Disrupt Operations at New York Airport
Lilit A.
Operations at Stewart International Airport in New York have been paralyzed due to the presence of unidentified drones. This was announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, according to NBC News.
"The airport's runway was closed for about an hour due to drone activity in the airspace. This situation has escalated significantly," the governor stated.
According to the governor, there is a need for new legislation that would allow state and local law enforcement to combat drone usage to keep people and critical infrastructure safe.
It is worth noting that newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump had called for the shooting down of 'mysterious' drones that have recently begun appearing in different parts of the country.
