Ukraine and Russia Make New Announcement on Drone Strikes
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has reported that the armed forces of Russia have taken control of new settlements in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
“As a result of decisive actions by the units of the 'Southern' grouping of troops, the settlements of Vesyoli Gai and Pushkino in the Donetsk People's Republic have been liberated,” reads the ministry's summary.
It is recalled that on the early morning of February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to launch a military special operation against Ukraine, following a request for assistance from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.
According to Putin, the aim is singular: to protect those who have been subjected to mockery and genocide by the Kyiv regime for the past eight years, and this will involve the demilitarization of Ukraine and holding accountable all military criminals responsible for bloody crimes against the peaceful residents of Donbas.
In response, Western countries have imposed widespread sanctions against Russia.
