Aghazaryan: They Want to Elevate Pashinyan, Sever His Roots to Assassinate Him
Hovik Aghazaryan, who left the Parliamentary bloc of the ruling Civil Contract party, expresses deep sorrow over his departure. In an interview with NEWS.am, he remarked, “Because we have gone through a very serious journey through knife, fire, water, and struggle. I have done everything to prevent this situation, but there comes a moment when you take a step back and become estranged.”
“Perhaps you are making a mistake, disrupting the team, maybe you have other goals, because you have experience and you want to place young colleagues on the right path, guide them. Hence, sometimes it escalates to the point of antagonism, resulting in such outcomes. I hope my step will contribute to my former colleagues being more united, loving each other more, and serving the ideas that drove us out on the road without trampling on those ideas, in the name of ‘noble’ goals. Because you cannot take lowly steps in the name of noble ideas; otherwise, you will not reach those noble ideas,” said Aghazaryan, adding that he is facing defeat for the second time in his life, both times from his friends: “the first was during the ARF era, the second is now.”
Speaking about Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sending SMS messages urging him to resign from parliament, Aghazaryan stated, “If someone is advising the Prime Minister that it’s okay to text a member of parliament to say, ‘resign your mandate,’ that is unacceptable; a parliamentarian is not a zero. The Prime Minister is 100 points, I am 0.01 points, but I am not a zero. The five votes that my family members did not give to the Civil Contract might have led to the party not overcoming the threshold or reaching the 157th position on the list. Therefore, one cannot treat a parliamentarian in that way. If you act like that towards a parliamentarian, you are destroying that institution.”
“Now they are outdoing each other to show that they are more Catholic than the Pope. I have previously said in an interview that in that way, they let Vazgen Sargsyan, a brilliant man, be made into Vazgen and got him killed. Now they want to sever Nikol Pashinyan, a very important political figure for me, from his roots, elevate him, each pursuing their narrow personal mercantile interests. They will sever him, leave him in mid-air, and cut him off from his roots, leading to his assassination,” Aghazaryan warned.
