Zurabishvili Calls Upcoming Presidential Election Offensive

The leader of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, whose term is set to expire in the coming days, has described the presidential elections scheduled for Saturday as a "parody" and illegitimate.

As reported by РИА Новости, a new president will be elected in the building of the Georgian Parliament on Saturday. The only candidate for this position is former football player and current MP Mikheil Kavelashvili, who is backed by the ruling "Georgian Dream" party.

On Tuesday, Georgia's State Security Service announced that organizers of protests, who are coordinating with foreign intelligence services, plan to disrupt the presidential elections.

According to Zurabishvili, the upcoming presidential elections are "offensive" to the Georgian people. She noted that she does not intend to resign from her post after the end of her term and will "stand by the people until the end."
