Aslanyan: They Lack the Courage to Speak About This

“There are people in the ‘Civil Contract’ faction who also think that all of this is wrong, but they lack the courage to speak about it,” MP Hakob Aslanyan mentioned in an interview with Factor.am.

When asked if he is the only one who believes what happened with Hovik Aghazaryan is unjust, or if there are others in the faction with similar views, Aslanyan responded: “I believe there are people who perhaps think this way in their souls, but they lack the courage. My case is a bit different. I am over 70 years old, and I have been a fighter for truth my entire life. There are many people there who weren't even born when I was being persecuted as a dissident in the 1970s. Back then, I was sharing banned literature for my friends to read, and I was being pointed at; I was already in the light. Nothing has frightened me since then. When a person is not afraid of death or losing something, let them imagine what they want.”

Aslanyan did not wish to name individuals but assured that such people exist: “I have spoken with certain individuals; there are people who are broken and would like to speak, but cannot. There are people who are indifferent, and some who want everything to be just, but they do not raise their voices.”

It is worth noting that MP Hakob Aslanyan from the Civil Contract has announced he is suspending his cooperation with the party for a month. The issue was also addressed by fellow Civil Contract MP Arsen Torosyan.
