VIDEO. Better to Rely on Ourselves: Sergey Lavrov's Interview with Tucker Carlson

Tucker Carlson published an interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. According to Govorits Moscow, the conversation lasted nearly 1.5 hours. During this time, the Foreign Minister answered questions about the resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, the use of the "Oreshnik" missile, and the possibilities for cooperation with the West.

In response to a question about relations with the US, Lavrov stated that "Russia sees no reason why Moscow and Washington cannot cooperate for the benefit of the universe." He added, "Russia is not thinking about war with the US and has no desire for such a thing. Such a war could be nuclear in nature, and the most important thing for Moscow is to avoid it."

Sergey Lavrov pointed out that Ukraine's non-aligned status remains a key issue for the Russian Federation—"neither NATO, nor military bases, nor exercises with the participation of foreign troops." Additionally, according to the diplomat, the launch of the "Oreshnik" medium-range missile was a signal to the West about Moscow's readiness to do everything to protect its legitimate interests. Lavrov expressed hope that this signal was taken seriously.

The Foreign Minister also emphasized that many in Russia would like the lifting of sanctions to become one of the conditions for peace with Ukraine. "However, we understand that it is better to rely on ourselves and create mechanisms for cooperation with 'normal' countries that do not mix economic interests with politics," he noted.

In less than three hours, more than 2 million people have watched the American journalist's video interview with the Russian Foreign Minister on the X social media platform.
