The U.S. exploits the economies of other countries at the expense of the dollar. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to Trump's assertion that there would be a rapid response if anyone in the world prohibited the use of the dollar.

“It is one thing to ban the use of the dollar, and another not to use it,” said the Russian president.

Vladimir Putin reminded that Trump had not been in the White House for four years. Changes have occurred during this time. His political opponents have done a lot to undermine the dollar's status as a reserve currency.

“We have never refused the dollar. It has turned into an instrument of political pressure. We have been denied. This comes from overconfidence and flattery, including in the economic sphere. We need to understand what is happening in the world and build our policies on all of that,” noted Putin.

Putin expressed hope that relations with Western countries would improve, stating, “both they and we have an interest.”
