Migrants Are Needed: Peskov
Against the backdrop of a tense demographic situation, Russia needs labor migrants from other countries to ensure the dynamic development of the country. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Migrants are necessary. The fact is that we have a very tense demographic situation. We live in the largest country in the world, but we are few. For Russia to develop dynamically and implement all development programs, of course, we need workers. We welcome their arrival,” said the Kremlin representative.
It is noteworthy that Vladimir Putin has stated that when it comes to involving migrants, authorities must primarily think about the interests of the country's citizens. He emphasized that migrants will not create a “rejection situation” among Russians if they are familiar with the laws and are willing to abide by them, as well as possess a good command of the Russian language. Furthermore, Putin added that migrants arriving in Russia should live in “humane conditions” and benefit from all advantages.
