Government Tightens Regulations on Road Construction

The government of Armenia has presented a new draft regulation for the construction of areas adjacent to interstate and national significance roadways. The draft has been published on the unified platform for legal act drafts, e-draft.

The purpose of the draft is to regulate urban construction activities in areas adjacent to roads to ensure safe traffic and organized development. It is also noted that many commercial establishments are located without the necessary construction permits. Improper planning of entrances and exits hinders the flow of vehicular traffic.

Within the framework of the draft, the following new regulations are established: the types of permitted construction projects will be sharply limited, including only essential infrastructure such as recreational areas, charging stations, motels, and technical service points.
