We Must Prevent This, Otherwise It Is Impossible to Reach a Solution: Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced the necessity of imposing an arms embargo against Israel, halting trade with it, and its subsequent international isolation.
“Israel's goal is to settle in Gaza, destroy the Palestinian entity in the West Bank, and ultimately annex it. That is what it aims to achieve. We must prevent this. While several Western countries provide Israel with all kinds of military, political, economic, and moral support, the inadequate response from Muslim countries has led to this situation. It is extremely important that we continue to coordinate our initiatives to impose measures against those committing genocide in Palestine. It is crucial to impose an arms embargo, halt trade, and isolate Israel,” Erdogan stated.
According to him, Turkey's initiative to impose an arms supply embargo on Israel has received support from 52 countries and 2 international organizations at the United Nations. “We must call on as many countries as possible, especially UN member states, to intervene in the genocide that the HRC has brought against Israel in the international court. We are ready to carry out all concrete and realistic proposals that will make Netanyahu’s government feel the cost of occupying Palestinian lands,” Erdogan noted.
The Turkish leader opined that a solution to the Palestinian issue is only possible on a two-state basis. “We all see that it is impossible to reach a solution in any other way. In the current conditions, we must encourage as many countries as possible to recognize Palestine. I pray to the Almighty that Hamas and the PLO demonstrate to the world that they stand united. I believe that resistance in the UN Security Council will be overcome, and we will see the day when the State of Palestine becomes a UN member,” Erdogan said.
