Video: How a Dispute Escalated into Murder - Footage Released

The investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 68-year-old man on November 10, 2024.

According to a report from the Police of the Republic of Armenia, an ambulance was dispatched to the Aeracia neighborhood at 20:10 on November 10, 2024, following a call, where the man's body was discovered in the street in front of a supermarket.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code. The identity of the deceased has been established, and a wound resembling a bloodstain was found on the back of his head. According to the statement of the forensic expert, the injury was caused by the impact of a blunt object.

As a result of investigative actions and operational measures taken, the identity of the person suspected of committing the crime has been clarified, who is a resident of the Nor Dvin community in Ararat Province, born in 1968.

Investigations revealed that at approximately 20:00 on November 10, 2024, a dispute broke out between a 68-year-old and a 56-year-old man near the supermarket in the Shengavit administrative district, during which the latter struck the 68-year-old on the head with a wooden stick and then fled the scene. The man succumbed to the fatal injuries sustained from the blow.

Based on sufficient grounds for suspicion of having committed the crime, the resident of Nor Dvin has been arrested. A forensic examination of the body and the arrested individual has been ordered. The pre-trial investigation continues.
