Taxi Driver Strikes With Bat; 68-Year-Old Man Dies

On November 10 at 20:20, the Community Police Department of Shengavit received a report that an ambulance had been dispatched to a supermarket near the Aeracia neighborhood, where a man's body was found in the parking lot. A call regarding the discovery of the body was also received from the patrol service's task force, according to the Armenian Police.

It was revealed that the deceased was 68-year-old Sahak Shahenyan, a resident of the village of Dvin in the Ararat region. A criminal case has been initiated under the features of murder by the Shengavit investigative department.

As a result of operational-search activities carried out by the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Shengavit department, it was established that around 20:30, there was an altercation between 56-year-old resident of Darbinik village and Sahak Shahenyan near the mentioned supermarket. During the argument, the 56-year-old man took a wooden bat from the trunk of his taxi, a Mercedes vehicle, and struck Sahak Shahenyan on the head, causing fatal injuries.

Subsequent actions led to the detection and arrest of the 56-year-old man at 23:40 in Darbinik village. He was taken to the Kyrgyz police department of Yerevan in his Mercedes. The vehicle has been moved to a specially protected area of the Shengavit department. The compiled documents have been transmitted to the Shengavit investigative department.

The circumstances of the incident are being clarified during the pre-investigation.
