Powerful Eruption on the Sun: What Could It Lead To

A powerful eruption has occurred on the Sun, reaching near the highest classification level. This was reported to TASS by the Institute of Applied Geophysics of the Russian Federation. The M9.5 strength eruption lasted for 31 minutes.

Solar eruptions are classified into A, B, C, M, and X classes depending on their X-ray radiation intensity. The lowest class is considered to be the A-class eruptions, with each subsequent class representing a tenfold increase in intensity. X-class eruptions are the most powerful.

Strong eruptions on the Sun can lead to magnetic storms. Earlier, on November 6, the Sun experienced an X2.4 level eruption.
