US Security Services Prepare for Elections
In anticipation of the elections, new protective barriers have been installed around the White House, Capitol, and Vice President Harris's residence in Washington to prevent possible political unrest in the coming days.
According to The Washington Post, the Secret Service has erected eight-foot high metal fences around the White House and the Treasury Department complex, as well as Lafayette Square and the surrounding area of Harris's residence.
The publication reports that the Secret Service also plans to implement physical security measures outside the convention center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where former President Trump will hold an event on election night.
On election night, Harris will hold her event at her alma mater, Howard University in Washington, D.C. The Washington police informed in a statement on Sunday that streets will be closed, parking will be restricted, and detours will be put in place for public transport in the surrounding areas.
