A Citizen Must Understand Whether It’s a Discount or Not, Gegham Gevorgyan

The Competition Protection Commission is set to become the central body for consumer protection. This was announced by the Chairman of the Commission, Gegham Gevorgyan, during a joint meeting of permanent committees in the National Assembly.

According to him, a package of changes is already being circulated. The restructured body is expected to carry out extensive functions for the protection of consumer rights.

Gegham Gevorgyan also mentioned that a new legislative package is being proposed, which will also regulate discount policies. "After Black Friday, for instance, if it's New Year, they can apply a discount, but every subsequent discount must be lower than the previous one, and it must have a time limitation," Gevorgyan noted.

There will also be additional regulations. It will be possible to display three prices for the same product, meaning the initial selling price, the first discount, and the final discount, allowing citizens to understand whether it is indeed a discount or not.
