Powerful Eruption Occurs on the Sun
A powerful eruption has been registered on the Sun, as reported on the website of the Russian Institute of Space Research.
"Information has been received regarding a solar flare of the highest category. The maximum emission from the flare was recorded at 0:20 Moscow time, near the Earth's orbit. Based on the measurement results of X-ray flux, the event has been assigned an X2.0 class," states the announcement.
Scientists noted that the main energy of the explosion "must be deflected," and the event's rating of X2.0 overall "does not seem dangerous." At the same time, they reminded that on October 11, this active solar region "managed to discharge" the second most powerful magnetic storm in seven years with an X1.8 level flare.
"For now, we need to understand, in general, whether Earth will be impacted and with what force," added the Russian scientists.
