Two Emergency Call Centers to Be Established in Armenia, Vehicles to Undergo Revamp: Minister

The reform program for the network of emergency ambulances is actively underway, with four regions already united. By the end of the year, all regions are expected to be fully integrated, with Yerevan joining in 2025. This was announced by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.

“There will be a single national emergency service. Calls will be serviced not on a queuing basis, but based on the nearest call principle. We have implemented digital mapping, changed the software, and added new features. A call center in Gyumri is already functioning, fully united, under entirely new conditions, equipped with new devices, and staffed by trained professionals,” said the minister.

Avanesyan also noted that there has recently been a noticeable decrease in the number of emergency calls. “This indicates that we are providing competent consultations and making accurate assessments of whether the call is necessary for emergency services or if it can be redirected to a clinic for outpatient treatment. In other words, due to all these efforts, we have been able to optimize our operations,” she stated, adding that as a result of these efforts, two call centers will operate across the republic, located in Yerevan and Gyumri.

Regarding the number of emergency vehicles, the minister mentioned that soon up to seven vehicles will be put into operation, and thanks to cooperation with Korea, the fleet will be further updated with an additional four vehicles. “In the near future, the external design of the emergency vehicles and the lighting solutions will also be transformed,” she noted.
