Georgian Prime Minister Discusses Relations with Russia

Georgia does not maintain diplomatic relations with Russia, nor does it have plans to establish them. This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during a press briefing. His words were quoted by News.ru.

“We do not have diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation; we are simply following the president's policy based on national interests, but we do not have serious relations like, for example, the European integration with foreign policy players,” he elaborated.

When asked about any possible plans to build strong diplomatic relations with Russia, the Georgian Prime Minister responded negatively, referencing the issues of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
