Dozens Arrested After Murder of Female Taxi Driver in Chelyabinsk
More than 40 individuals have been detained in the city of Korkino, Chelyabinsk Region, following unrest. This was reported by Interfax, citing sources in law enforcement.
The riots, described by the local publication 74.ru as a "pogrom in the Romani neighborhood," erupted on Thursday after the murder of a female taxi driver, in connection with which a 17-year-old boy has been arrested. Local residents have accused members of the Romani community of being involved in the murder.
According to one Russian-language Telegram channel, among those arrested in connection with the riots are also Roma individuals.
An Interfax source stated that during the unrest, two young men sustained light injuries from hunting rifles. Peace has now reportedly been restored in the city.
