Hezbollah Must Withdraw from Border Area with Israel, Scholz Says

The Hezbollah movement in Lebanon must withdraw from the border area with Israel. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a press conference.

“Regarding the situation in Lebanon, Hezbollah must leave the border area with Israel in accordance with UN Resolution 1701. True peace in the region is only possible if both states begin a process for solving the issue,” Scholz said.

Scholz also expressed hope that the prospects for establishing a ceasefire would become more realistic following the assassination of Hamas' political bureau chief Yahya Sinwar, and that the movement would free the remaining Israeli hostages.
