Drugs Found in Various Parts of Yerevan: Details

A citizen of Iran, who acquired and distributed drugs in various parts of Yerevan via a Telegram application, has been arrested. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the Committee's statement, during a personal search of the Iranian citizen, authorities discovered 1 package containing a plant substance, 2 pieces of transparent tape, 1 zip package, 8 small magnets, 19 packages containing brown plant substances, and 20 packages of plant material.

The citizen stated that the discovered items were marijuana, which he had purchased from an unidentified user on the Telegram app. A forensic and biological examination has been appointed.

The preliminary conclusion from the 'Forensic Expertise Center of the Republic of Armenia' confirmed that the substances presented for examination are marijuana-type drugs. The man has been charged under Article 393, Part 2, Clause 2 of the RA Criminal Code (illegal trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances with profit motivation).

The prosecuting body has submitted a request to the court to apply detention as a preventive measure, which has been granted.
