The UK and Germany to Sign 'Historic Agreement'
The United Kingdom will sign a 'historic agreement' with Germany next week, which is expected to create closer military and security ties with the European Union, reports The Sunday Times.
The agreement will allow British and German forces to conduct joint exercises with NATO along the eastern border facing Russia, likely in Estonia and Lithuania.
It will also enable the countries to jointly procure more weapons and lead to close cooperation in the development and production of next-generation weapons, strengthening the defense industries of both nations amid a backdrop of declining armaments due to military aid to Ukraine.
The publication notes that the UK, Germany, and France—Europe's largest military powers—are now discussing how they can take on more responsibility within NATO, amid concerns that the United States may weaken its role in the alliance if Donald Trump wins re-election.
