Alen Simonyan on the Incident Involving Argishti Kyaramyan and Hovik Aghazaryan

It is unacceptable to insult or disrespect the head of the Investigative Committee, as it is a complex and challenging institution that deals with specific matters. At the same time, it is also unacceptable to show disrespect towards parliament members; I consider this unequivocally unacceptable.

This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, in an interview with Azatutyun, addressing the recent incident in the National Assembly involving Investigative Committee President Argishti Kyaramyan and ruling party MP Hovik Aghazaryan.

According to him, the matter related to the incident is under discussion and will continue to be discussed within the ruling party (CP). “We also have a disciplinary process within the CP concerning the MPs related to this incident, which we will discuss in upcoming sessions of the management,” said Simonyan, without clarifying which MP or MPs are involved.

He noted that it may turn out that there are other MPs besides Aghazaryan who have 'done something'. “An investigation is underway. There is also an investigation involving the head of the Investigative Committee, but already within the limits of their authorities. It is a service investigation,” he said.

Alen Simonyan stated that he is not aware and has not heard discussions about the CP initiating a petition for the dismissal of Committee President Kyaramyan, as was conducted in the case of the Minister of Justice. “I don't know, that issue has not been discussed,” he added, noting that comparing these two incidents is 'not appropriate.'
