Serviceman's Death: Colleague Arrested on Charges of Driving to Suicide
A serviceman, Vahe Harutyunyan, has had a colleague arrested on charges of driving him to suicide. This was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC).
Within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under part 2, point 2 of Article 522 of the RA Criminal Code by the Fifth Garrison Investigation Department of the RA Military Investigation Chief Department, a number of circumstances essential for the investigation of Vahe Harutyunyan's death have been clarified, including the cause and the identity of the person who allegedly committed the crime, who is a colleague of the victim.
The investigative group determined that due to issues related to the performance of duty, this individual, acting as the head of the duty shift, displayed cruel treatment towards Vahe Harutyunyan, who was subordinate to him, making several derogatory remarks that insulted his honor and dignity and even resorting to physical violence. Vahe Harutyunyan, finding himself in a hopeless situation, shot himself in the head with a service weapon from a certain distance.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered, charges have been brought against the colleague under point 2 of part 2 of Article 522 of the RA Criminal Code. He has been remanded in custody as a measure of restraint. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict that has entered into legal force in accordance with the rules established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
